Male Plastic Surgery - is it right for me?
Cosmetic surgery can boost a man's self-confidence and self-esteem. But before going ahead with cosmetic surgery, it is important to speak to a specialist first. They can provide with your more information about the procedure and what you can expect after surgery.
Cosmetic surgery for men - maintaining masculine features is often desirable, as is avoiding overdone or feminised looks.
Gynecomastia is a medical term for “woman-like breasts,” and it affects many men. Enlarged breasts can be permanent, uncomfortable, and socially and psychologically devastating. However, they can be removed through male breast reduction surgery.
For men who feel self-conscious about their appearance, surgery to remove breast tissue can help. The procedure involves removing fat or glandular tissue from the breasts, and in extreme cases removes excess skin, resulting in a chest that is flatter, firmer, and better contoured.
There are a number of options for the treatment of male breast enlargement (gynaecomastia):
Liposuction is a cosmetic surgical procedure that removes excess fat from one or more areas of the body.
It can be used for small areas, such as the space under the chin or for larger areas, including the stomach, thighs, buttocks, hips or knees.
Liposuction is also referred to as lipoplasty, suction lipectomy, or body contouring. It is a relatively safe procedure and involves a very simple process. A tiny incision is made within the target area into which a small tube is inserted. Fat cells are broken down via the movement of the tube and then sucked away.
Many people resort to liposuction when they struggle to shift stubborn fat in particular areas, despite regular exercise and a healthy diet. They may have lost weight in other parts of their body, but certain areas remain. Liposuction is a very successful way to permanently eliminate excess fat from around your body.
As one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures for men, upper eyelid surgery, also known as upper blepharoplasty is suitable for men with ageing, wrinkled, sagging or drooping upper eyelids.
The surgeon will remove any excess skin and fatty tissue from around the eyes and stretch the skin to smooth out any lines and wrinkles and reduce the “hooded” effect above the eyes before stitching the skin back into place. This procedure is often performed alone but many people also choose to combine it with a face lift or brow lift.
Often the skin becomes stretched and loose following rapid weight loss. Stretch marks may also be a problem.
Others want to remove a “roll of fat” surrounding their lower abdomen. All these issues can be resolved by an abdominoplasty.
During a tummy tuck excess skin and fat is removed from the lower abdomen. The aim is to create a flatter, firmer and more contoured stomach. During the procedure the surgeon will make an incision along the lower abdomen and a second around the belly button. If necessary, abdominal muscles may also need to be tightened and repaired. Excess skin and fat are removed then a new belly button is formed. Liposuction is often performed in conjunction with this procedure.
For those with only a small amount of excess skin, a mini-tummy tuck may be recommended. Muscle repair is not undertaken, therefore the belly button does not need to be repositioned and a much smaller incision can be made.
Most of us notice someone’s nose only when it is not in balance with their face, whether it is too large, too wide, or misshapen. If you are dissatisfied with the shape or proportion of your nose, you are likely not happy with your overall facial appearance.
Rhinoplasty or ‘nose job’ is a cosmetic surgery procedure that reshapes the nose, usually altering the size to restore balance to the facial features.
Plastic surgery of the nose can also be a corrective procedure for those who have breathing problems, a birth defect or have suffered nose injuries.
Although it is quite a complex procedure, the outcome is generally very effective. Rhinoplasty can change the balance and proportions of the entire face producing a dramatic improvement in how you look and feel. The procedure is performed under a general anaesthetic and usually takes around 2 hours.
The VASERlipo® System uses minimally invasive ultrasound technology for precision body contouring. VASERlipo® produces eye-catching results in just one procedure and the technology provides many benefits versus traditional liposuction treatments.
Vaser Liposuction is an effective procedure whereby fat cells are removed permanently thus preventing fat to reassert itself in the treated areas. This effectively means that once an area is treated, Fat can no longer form in that area.
As we age, our faces can often look older than we feel. Skin loses elasticity and gravity starts to take its toll. A face-lift can help redress the balance.
It should not be obvious that you have had the procedure, instead you should look younger and fresher.
This relatively straightforward operation lifts up the skin, deeper tissues and surrounding muscles, aiming to make your face tighter and smoother, resulting in a more youthful appearance. There are a variety of methods available and our expert cosmetic surgeons will assess your suitability and discuss all options, with the aim of achieving a more youthful, face.
Brow lift surgery is often performed on those people who wish to rejuvenate their face and in particular the area around the eyes.
As we get older the skin on the face can start to lose elasticity and this can mean that the skin will sag and droop around the eyes, mouth and jaw line.
Brow lift surgery can help to tighten the skin, reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles and remove the “hoods” that can appear over the eyes and make them look tired and old. This surgery is sometimes combined with eye bag removal surgery, which is performed on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids or combination of the two to open up the eyes, tighten any loose skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
